We are proud of the committed sponsors for ten students who graduated
in May, 2009! The GFI Staff and students are very grateful for the
opportunities they enjoy as a result of the care they receive. OBS
appreciates that such caring people are interested in our kids.
Though
they are perhaps experiencing economic difficulties at home, our
sponsors are aware of the critical needs of the orphans leaving
Green Forest Internat. These teens age out of the orphanage with
a 9th grade education, and they face the world without skills or
support of family. Vocational education for 2 years gives them a
chance to develop some marketable skills and to hope for the future.
Last
year's pilot program was and is a success. Now 15 teens of the Class
of 2008 are supported in schools by sponsors who continue to encourage
them. The schools have commended our program and the students involved
in it. We have every reason to believe that the Class of 2009 will
live up to the same standards as their predecessors. Thanks to their
sponsors and their own ambition, they have begun well!
Our
contact at the Internat, Natalia Victorovna Gayduk, administers
the program and monitors the use of funds, as well as the behavior
and efforts of the students. The students also mentor each other.
It works!
If
you have an interest in our program, please contact us with any
question, anytime. Perhaps we can aid another needy student, waiting
for a chance to study a trade.
