Shoes
Project
Over
$3,000.00 Raised
Funded and Shoes Partially Delivered!
There is a common need in virtually every orphanage: shoes for the
children. OBS purchases as much in-country as possible, but shoes
are the exception for several reasons. Buckner Shoes for Orphans
Souls is an amazing organization that provides brand new shoes for
needy children. An Orphan's Bright Star's application requesting
one pair of shoes for every child in our orphanages, and even for
some orphanages outside of our official scope, is being worked right
now. Shoes can be costly in Ukraine, so shipping free shoes over
to the homes makes very good sense in this situation.

Green
Forest Internat
Vocational Education
Seeking
Sponsors
We are introducing to you 12
teens from Green Forest Internat, a boarding school/orphanage
with 160-170 children ages 7 through 17, located few miles outside
Kharkiv. The teens here graduate and age out of the Internat at
the end of May with only a 9th grade education. It really isnt
that, when compared to the 9th grade levels that youre familiar
with.
These
kids must learn to support themselves and survive. If
they leave the institution without any help, the chances are frighteningly
high that they will succumb to hunger, desperation, criminal activity,
drugs, unemployment, homelessness, violence, trafficking and prostitution,
suicide or early death.

children have cleft issues and one has hip bone and blood problems
as well. The orphanage must pay for travel to the treatment location.

Wheelchairs
for Poltava Children
Funded
$2,700
Hope Haven is generously supplying 13 brand new custom child-sized
wheelchairs for the rehabilitation home in Poltava. According to
the caregivers, this is the greatest need in the home as it enables
them to move the children around to their various therapy sessions
without enduring heavy lifting and moving. The chairs will arrive
with the necessary equipment to accommodate the growth of the children
over the years as they age.

Nizhny
Vorota Library
Funded
$500
Nizhny Vorota Internat is home to special needs children between
the ages of 6 and 17. These forgotten children did not have books,
or other education material. The map on their wall was so old it
did not even display their own country! The kids were made to watch
one television set ... day in ... day out.

2007
Windows
Funded
$20,000+
In the sick room of the Svalyava Baby Orphanage, the windows and
doors were rotten and broken. Throughout the rest of the orphanage,
windows were "insulated" by shoving cotton into the gaping
holes surrounding the frame, many had broken glass and were encased
in rotten wood.

Kremenchuk
Laundry
Funded
$8,400
An
Orphan's Bright Star and LAdS
(Les Amies de Svieta) partnered to provide the orphanage with
a renovated laundry area, complete with a new ventilation and
electrical system. The
way in which this project was completed is a perfect example of
how working together we can make a huge difference in these children's
lives! Without LAdS
partnership, this project would never have been happened!
